How To Print Double Sided PDF

Portable Document Format or a PDF is a file format developed by Adobe Systems that is used to utilize computer documents independent of any software or hardware specific standards. A PDF file can be used in Windows, Mac, and Linux without having to meet special requirements.  A PDF file embeds and encapsulates everything within a document upon rendering.

Graphics, charts, layout, text, format, fonts and all other data within a document is embed as is or seen on display. When the PDF is open by another user it formats and displays exactly as originally rendered. This is why it is one of the most widely used formats in desktop publishing, and office use. You can also save a PDF file as image or editable which makes it easy to make changes.

Printing Double Sided PDF requires minor setup adjustments verses if you were to simple print single sided normal PDF files. Printing Double Sided PDF will save you paper, money, but also help reduce decline in print quality.

To open and print your PDF file you will require Adobe Reader, a free software from Adobe that is used to work PDF files. Simply open your PDF file using Adobe Reader.

Once your PDF file is set to print, click File from the top menu and select Print. The Print dialog box should appear. In the Printer filed select the printer that you wish to use.

If your printer supports Duplex Printing, click on the Properties button next to the printer you selected to use. Next select the Printing Shortcuts tab and choose Two-Sided Duplex Printing. On the right hand side you will now see a list of drop down menus.

Click on Print on both sides and choose Manual. Click OK and click on Print. If your printer has a duplex feature it will print odd number pages first. To figure out which side your printer prints on first, you can run a simple test by writing a letter on top of blank sheet of paper.

After your printer has printed the odd pages first using the duplex feature, keep the pages in order and insert them back through the feeder with the printed and the opposite side of the page facing up if your printer prints face down. Next continue to print the even pages to finish your double sided printing.

If your printer does not have a Two-Sided Duplex Printing feature, check the Reverse pages under More Options. In the Subset field select Odd pages only. Click OK to print the odd pages first. Once the odd pages are printed, reload them with printed side facing up if your printer prints face down or facing down if your printer prints face up.

From the File menu select Print again. Check the Reverse pages box and under Subset select Even pages only. Press OK to complete your double sided PDF printing.
